University of Malaya started functioning in 28 September 1905, more than a hundred years ago. It is the best and highly ranked university in Malaysia. A lot of its’ graduates are famous politicians, businessmen, cultural figures. Five Prime Ministers of Malaysia are also graduates of University of Malaya.
In the very beginning University of Malaya had two campuses: one in Kuala Lampur and the second one was located in Singapore, which after the independence of Singapore became a separated university and renamed National University of Singapore.
According to the latest QS World University Rankings, University of Malaya is 65 in the world.
It also cooperated with University of Wales to establish International University of Malaya-Wales which is a private university in Malaysia.
The university has 13 residence and eleven of them is in-campus. There are also Olympic-sized swimming pool, botanical gardens, some museums, various sport facilities.
It is very easy to get to the University from any part of the city by a public transport.
