TestDaF

TestDaF – (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache) is a language examination for foreign learners of German who wish to study in Germany or who wish to have some an official confirmation of their German level. The certificate issued upon successful completion of all four sections of the TestDaF will act as evidence of the language skills needed to gain admission to almost any degree course at universities and institutions of higher education in Germany or to complete scientific projects and enter academic professions. TestDaF is a centralized and standardized examination which is devised and graded by the TestDaF-Institut. TestDaF has four components: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written examination and oral expression. Reading and writing take 60 minutes each, there are about 40 minutes for listening and speaking, which is computer-aided and takes around 35 minutes.
Test results are presented in three different levels:
1) TestDaF-Niveaustufe 3 (TDN 3);
2) TestDaF-Niveaustufe 4 (TDN 4);
3) TestDaF-Niveaustufe 5 (TDN 5).

Entry requirements for universities are TDN 4 and 5, however, since every university of Germany has its own admission policy, it is also possible to be accepted with TDN 3. Announcement of results in the test center portal will be available in 4 to 6 weeks after your test date. It varies slightly depending on how the test was taken.

Minimum entry requirements:
Age: 16+;
German level: at least B2.
