Description

IUPUI consists of Indiana University and Purdue University. In 1891, Indiana University took the initiative to offer classesin Indianapolis. In the following years, Purdue and IU came forward to  offer programs in medicine, humanities, physics and others. It was in 1968 that Richard Lugar calls for the two universities to merge. Today, IUPUI is an urban campus in Indianapolis with a population of two million. IUPUI offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees to students. The university in turn is Indiana’s premier urban research institution and academic medical institution. The university is Indiana’s leading research center. It offers more than 550 undergraduate, graduate as well as professional programs. IUPUI celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019. IUPUI is also ranked in the “Top 10” in the world for sustainability by Times Higher Education. The University is a 12-time winner of the Insight Into Diversity Award for Excellence in Higher Education. Today, IUPUI has international students from 139 countries as well as the other 50 states.
